GRIFFON SUBSIDIARY SELECTED BY BOEING FOR 767 TANKER TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT PROGRAMJericho, New York, January 6, 2003 Griffon Corporation (NYSE: GFF) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Telephonics Corporation, has been selected by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems to provide the Audio Intercom System for Boeings new 767 Tanker Transport Aircraft. The Audio Intercom System (AIS) will provide the flight and mission crews with radio interface and audio communications distribution and management throughout the aircraft. The AIS will be adapted to the various 767 Tanker Transport crew configurations. The multi-year program will include systems for Boeings U.S. and International aircraft customers and is valued at greater than $5 million. In addition, substantial numbers of additional systems are anticipated for future aircraft sales worldwide. This strategic program further solidifies and strengthens our longstanding relationship with Boeing, said Phil Nicholas, President of Telephonics Communication Systems Division. The AIS is based upon Telephonics advanced all-digital Secure Digital Intercommunication (SDI) system for which Telephonics has already secured long term contracts for the C-130 AMP and UH-60M Black Hawk military aircraft, continued Nicholas. Work on the project will be accomplished at Telephonics facilities in Farmingdale, NY and Huntington NY with engineering support from Telephonics Gardena, CA facility.
