TEXTRON SYSTEMS SELECTS TELEPHONICS TRULINK ® WIRELESS INTERCOM FOR NEW ARMORED SECURITY VEHICLES
Farmingdale, New York, November 30, 2004 Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Griffon Corporation (NYSE: GFF), announced today a contract award of approximately $1.0M from Textron Marine and Land Systems to supply its TruLink Wireless Intercommunication system for installation on Textrons initial deliveries of Armored Security Vehicles (ASV) for the U.S. Army.
The ASV is a new armored vehicle that offers crew protection through multiple layers of armor for defense against gunfire, large artillery fragments, and land mines. TruLink brings wireless intercom capability to the ASV, allowing the operators to talk in-and-around the vehicle as well as with connection to multiple long-range radios. TruLink also enables crewmembers that have disembarked to communicate with each other along with the vehicle crew. TruLink enhances communications, increases safety, and operates reliably in high noise environments with resistance to shock, vibration, moisture, sand, dust, and extreme temperatures.
Telephonics continues its successful history with Textron, providing intercommunication systems on such programs as the U.S. Navy Landing Craft Air Cushion, OH-58D Kiowa Warrior and AH-1 Cobra Helicopters. The incorporation of TruLink on ASV expands the existing relationship with Textron Marine and Land Systems in providing innovative intercommunications capability.
Work on this program will begin immediately. All work will be performed at the Telephonics facilities in Farmingdale and Huntington, NY.
